Me Again
[info]aphrodite33 wrote in [info]wow_ladies
I posted this in the complaint thread the other day.. But I’ve decided I need some advice on the subject after all, and you ladies have always been informative and helpful. I’ll give you a little back story first.

The current guild I am in is falling apart to the point I am one of two people on at any given time, guild leaders have gone MIA to play for the other side leaving the guild hanging. They have no desire to run heroics, recruit healers (as we have none) or progress to a small casual raiding guild.

And when they do log in it’s usually under their alts, and they are like hey Bela run me through DM I need upgrades for my Alt here. I’ve gotten to the point where I tell them no I am working on dailies or other projects; I am not there to be their doormat. I am serious about learning how to raid, doing heroics to get geared.

I did meet a really nice WOW player a few nights ago while we were both playing on our alts, and we logged in on our 80’s and she had her guild take me through a run on regular TOC. She introduced me to WG and the Argent Tourney stuff too, I’ve had a lot of fun learning new things…It’s good to know there are really nice WOW players…

So a guild mate and I have been talking about making a small casual progression guild, and this is where I need your advice. How to make a successful guild?

I know his plan is to have me as co-leader since I am on more right now due to unemployment. So I would be in charge of recruiting, were thinking of running with the idea of fresh 80’s looking to get geared, learn heroics and the fights. But will accept all levels that are willing to progress with the guild. We eventually want to have enough players to run 10 man runs. Working on the exact wording, my friend said it better than I did..

Also have any of you played class that made you want to tear your hair out? My same friend decided he wanted to try a Shammy/Priest combo, I am a melee girl so being a Priest is really a change for me. Right now he is doing all the work while I stand back and heal him, which I fail and panic when they come running after me. I have gone Shadow for the extra DPS, I really want to stick this out and learn a new class. And I know Priests can be devastating at higher levels, right now were just level 14.. I just have no idea what gear to get and what to do. *headdesk*

Thanks…

Any ladies on Korialstrasz (US)?
[info]lavabeast wrote in [info]wow_ladies
Are their any ladies that play on Korialstrasz (US)? It doesn't seem to be a popular choice at all, though I personally consider the consort of the dragon queen to be quite a cool guy. ;)

Hello? Anyone? Bueller?

Nona Hora - Daytime EU raiding guild needs you!
[info]chassienh wrote in [info]wow_ladies
Been trying to promote my beloved guild, so here's a recruitment thread just for you wow-ladies :P

We are a bunch of talented players on the Nagrand(PvE/alliance side) server, who raid in the daytime, because we of various reasons, can't attend the "normal" evening raid hours.  Usually we raid between 13.oo-18.oo servertime, but if you gonna be late or have to leave early, I'm sure we can work something out for you.

Cleared TotC and Ulduar10 (13/14) - currently progressing in TotGC10 (3/5) and have completed several hardmodes in Ulduar too - only missing Mimiron for Algalon.

Most of us are the remains of the former "Project Aurora" guild and we are currently looking for all classes and specs to expand our ranks - and to start 25 man raids in the future.
We're also accepting alts atm, menaing if you have your mainchar in a "normal" evening raiding guild, but want to spend some time during the day on your alt, we welcome that too.

You must be lvl 80 but most importantly you need to know your class well and be mature and responsible.
Take a look at our brand new website (www.nonahora.eu) and apply on our forums.

Thank you for reading and have fun! If you want to know more about us, or have some questions, send me a message here, or from our forums (to "Chassie").

Tell your friends about us too, you never know, who might wanna come play with us :D

Vezax Windows Icons
[info]zerographic wrote in [info]wow_ladies
Monday will be our last foray into Ulduar. We'll complete the legendary weapon for one of our healers and bid adieu to Yogg. Knowing that motivated me to get off my ass and finally do something I've wanted to do since I first saw them. I took screen shots of all the windows and iconized them. Some of them are askew because that's how they are in game... I'm trying to decide if I care ^_^

So I heard that dodge rating is gonna be cut by 20% in the new Raid coming out sometime. Does that mean the only tanks that could really do well in their are Pallies and Warriors? I thought that DK's and Druids mostly used dodge rating.
I also heard that you need at least 50k health to go in their...
Is any of this true? Or is it just rumors I heard floating around WoW?

Well, after requesting an icon yesterday, I actually decided to fill my own request, and then I got carried away and made some more. I haven't made icons in ages, so I hope they are OK.

Raid leading addons?
[info]lasairfina wrote in [info]wow_ladies
I'm a newly promoted raid leader in my guild. My guild is smallish and casual. And kinda fail atm. I've outgrown my guild, and rather than leave it, I want to bring it to my level. Because I love most of the people in my guild to death. I've decided that I don't want fail raids. I want progression. What addons should I be using?

Things I would like to keep track of- AFKs, food buffs, flasks, anything that Failbot announces (I've heard that it is no longer being updated, so a replacement would be nice), attendance, change in DPS over time (as in people getting better or worse), durability, and loot. And anything else someone with experience thinks I should have.

So far in my interweb wanderings I've installed the following to help me out- Headcount, InsidiaFails, Bigbrother, and oRA2. That's in addition to the Recount and DBM I already had. My problem is that at least 3 of the new ones I've read are good are not updated anymore. From what I can tell, only InsidiaFails is current and that's the replacement to Failbot.

And advice would be greatly appreciated. Unless it's something snarky and along the lines of 'just join a new guild.' I've been getting that enough. Because I got over the 'omg I can't make this work' phase and am now determined to hammer my guild into... something. FFS, I at least want to get us through the siege of Ulduar. Yes, we're that bad. I want to share fun and exciting and new (to them) content with my guildies. I really, really do.

Penance
[info]humanfemale wrote in [info]wow_ladies
penance

/ˈpɛnəns/
–noun
1. a punishment undergone in token of penitence for sin.

Most of the time, I love to PVP on my disc priest. Keeping up multiple allies with Penance and Power Word: Shield while I dot and smite rogues to death is an adrenaline rush that can't be found elsewhere in the game. The disc priest hits almost as hard as she heals, and really rewards a player with quick reflexes.

There are other days though when PVPing in battlegrounds as a healer feels like I must be being punished for doing something awful in a past life. Really, truly awful. Kicking kittens awful.

guild love: because it's not all drama, amirite?!
[info]tonberry wrote in [info]wow_ladies
Some of you might remember me posting a few weeks ago QQing about my guld. Most of you probably don't. Either way, I ended up hauling my hunter ass out, and recently joined a new raiding guild. Within 3 days, I had "proven myself" enough to be hauled into their 10m progression group. Two days later, and 2 guild firsts later also (take that faction champs and twins!), we are on Anub in 10m TOGC. We had 42 attempts left, going into the fight. We now have I believe 28 attempts left, after tonight's progression. We are now very, very good at kiting spikes. Other than that... we're messing up a lot. But at least we don't suck at spikes now, right?! :D /optimism

I cannot get over how much I love my new guild, basically.

What awesome things have your guildies done for you lately? :) Besides initiating me almost immediately into the 10m group of awesome, making me feel COMPLETELY at home and being social and awesome... my guildies went out of their way THREE TIMES today alone to help me:

I started the Scepter of the Shifting Sands quest chain finally (screw you, rep grind to neutral!) and seriously, they have been win. They showed up to help me kill the raid boss dude in Duskwood. They showed up in Moonglade when I had to do the follow-up quest to defend the town from shades. They showed up AGAIN when Dr. Weavil was mind controlling me at 30% and making me kill my pet and lose all aggro. And a couple of 'em are ALREADY organizing a guild run of BWL to get me the elementium ore I need later on in the quest chain. :D

Guild love. Show me it. Tell me about it. ♥

also, I am 97 quests from Loremaster. Getting sooo close, I can feel it!!!

Pink Moonkin, all finished

Pink Moonkin is all done and ready to go to his/her new home, but I have no idea what part of the world he'll end up in. Remember, the only way to get a chance to own this guy is to enter the raffle over at Raid for the Cure.

Introductions
[info]humanfemale wrote in [info]wow_ladies
I'm a 20-something IT professional, and I WoW.

I'm also a writer, sometimes by profession, always by nature. Lately I've been finding myself wishing I could post about WoW on my blog without boring my non-WoW playing friends to death. Obviously a new blog was called for - and finding the WoW Ladies community on LJ brought me here.

I play Alliance on the Frostwolf-PVP realm, and I am a member of a New Zealand focused guild, World Famous. I'm a serious alt-a-holic, with 5 characters over 60. I'm an actual girl, rather than just playing one on the internet. I'm PVP focused, although I do have a healer who sometimes runs in my guild's main progression.

Grabbing mobs as a tank
[info]intothewolves wrote in [info]wow_ladies
So, in preparatation for Cata I've been levelling my druid (who will become a troll). I love tanking a lot, but... I'm not very good at it. So I come to you ladies for help.
I have no issues with health even though my gear is somewhat sub-par for a 38.
My main issue is grabbing mobs when I lose aggro on them. I can't find them to growl them, and when I do find them I can't target them among all the players attacking them.
Does anyone know a good addon or ingame fix for this type of issue? Thanks.

Horrific end result of the Horde's raid on Stormwind today )

Since discovering my true love, pvp, I've been stuck with 3 out of 4 on my For the Alliance achievement for what feels like forever. Org is just so incredibly difficult! At least it seems so at the moment. The ones I have done though were a ton of fun. Even when about 50 people showed up and trounced us when Thrall was at 20% hp, it was a blast. So let's talk about world pvp and getting our war bears. Do you love it? Hate it? End up vaguely amused when you walk into the capital only to find it strewn with skeletons everywhere?

*I actually completely missed the whole thing, teled to Stormwind to use the auction house, went to the wintergrasp guy and woah skeletons all over, goddamnit I miss all the fun stuff around here

BG fail
[info]marzipan9 wrote in [info]wow_ladies
Did they change something with report AFK in battlegrounds? I'm so confused, right before my group capped IBT and went all in, all of a sudden, I was transported back to Shattrath and now I'm flagged as a deserter.

I wasn't afk, in fact, I was running past Galv's bunker when it happened. Ironic, since earlier I was hanging out at Stonehearth Bunker, honor/xp farming while working on my nano novel (I'm a lvl 60 in AV, I never manage to get past Belinda, so usually I end up hanging around waiting for the horde to show up so I can toss my baby heals on people....so I play windowed with my novel in front, watching for action on the screen, and actively PvP when there is stuff to heal) and didn't get reported.

So, is it a certain amount of people reporting you, or can the BG leader just do it by default? I know a guildmate of mine watched the entire Horde team disappear mid-fight in a WSG.

I'm confused.

*edit* so I went to Trade (i know, i know, Trade lolerskates on a teeheetricycle), and apparently there are two ways to get booted from BGs

1. Get reported AFK and do nothing PvPish for one minute
2. Have 6 or more people report you AFK

I guess I could have not done anything for one minute, but it seems highly unlikely...a guildmate suggested people were reporting me afk since I'm a low level just to get me booted. But the BG was almost over, it makes no sense.

Quick question for rogues
[info]lometa wrote in [info]wow_ladies
I can't seem to figure out how  to use my crossbow with my rogue. I have trained in xbows and would like keep the one I have equipped the one I have for stats. I would also like to use it to pull with but clicking on the bow, keybinding it, opening up the character pane does nothing.

I've tried Google and no luck there. I have two hunters so I get the main idea.
Am I missing something?

Tribute to Mad Skill.. and beer!
[info]grinningrobot wrote in [info]wow_ladies
25ToGC is the only thing my guild is still progressing on achievement-wise (need Insanity) but last tuesday we got Mad Skill.. while our raid leader was really really drunk. XD

Most of us know our leader (Garrosh) is pretty no-nonsense about getting through boss fights as efficiently and trouble-free as possible, so it was pretty great to see him running around drunk as hell through ToGC. XD The best part is we ALMOST got Insanity that night (got Anub to 8% before the tank died with 50 attempts left jksaflafhs).

Some of us were so amused we decided to record our raid. Sadly he mostly sobered up by Twins but it's still kinda funny. You can find our 25ToGC NRB, Jaraxxas, Twins, and Anub'arak kills from that night on youtube. For reference, I'm the big fat moondumbkin (who likes to stand in fire oops lol) and the only girl in vent lololol.

Beast Mastery PvE Hunter Guide
[info]amiyuy wrote in [info]wow_ladies
I just updated my BM guide to patches 3.2.0 and 3.2.2 along with some cleaned up sections, updated to epic gems, and clarification. I edited the past post instead of making a new one so that links and bookmarks won't need to change, although there is a link to the 3.1 version at the bottom.

This guide includes information that is mostly centered around level 80 Beast Mastery raiding, however the Links, Addons, Enchants, Raid Supplies, Pet, Macros and Beginning Wrath Gear & Reps can apply for all specs for the most part and there are a few leveling (which BM is still arguably the best spec for) sections in Talents and Pets. I am a BM hunter and it is what I know best.
